Christine Mills Aging Care Manager in CT
Christine started a career as a television marketing producer in 1981. When her mother started showing signs of Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 62, her goal was to learn as much as she could about the disease. Christine was determined to help her mom and her family through the next 20 years. Therefore, she decided to start a new career in the healthcare field. Subsequently, she earned her Masters’ degree in Gerontology and Human Development from Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, CT.
Through the years, Christine Mills and her family watched as the devastating and debilitating effects of Alzheimer’s took hold. They had to endure the overwhelming and often confusing process of financial and legal planning; home care, adult day care, inpatient psychiatric care, medication education nursing home placement, and finally hospice care in July, 2015.
During the years when her mom was sick, Christine Mills volunteered at the Alzheimer’s Resource Center of CT, and with the CT chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Later on, she worked as a professional Care Manager for Connecticut Community Care, Inc. (CCCI) for more than seven years. Christine helped hundreds of older adults and disabled individuals remain or return to the community under the Connecticut Home Care Program and Money Follows the Person. Furthermore, she worked as a certified medical assistant for various offices in Central and Southwest Connecticut. Christine currently is a hospice volunteer with Masonicare in Wallingford. She is also the Founder of Silver Linings for Seniors in CT.
Christine Mills has assisted others in her family through the aging process, and strongly believes in protecting and empowering all older adults and their right to dignity and independence.
